Dr. Brian Cotter

Dr. Serena V. Heard

In addition to requirements while pursuing her Doctor of Chiropractic degree, she continued to push the academic boundaries enrolling in courses and seminars to advance her manual skills with Sports Kinesiology Taping, ConnecTx Soft Tissue Therapy, Whole Foods Nutrition, attending courses through the Motion Palpation Institute and Prague school of rehabilitation.Dr. Serena has always had a passion for children growing up, working many summers as a camp counselor and volunteering for learn to skate programs in her area. With this love for kids she is an active member of the ICPA as she continues her education in prenatal and pediatrics including pediatric and prenatal nutrition, Pediatric DNS (Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization) and Certified in Webster (prenatal) technique.
Webster Technique:
The Webster technique is a chiropractic therapy that works to balance the pelvis and sacrum while also reducing stress to the utero-sacral and round ligaments. When pelvic and sacral imbalances are corrected the common aches and pains of pregnancy are resolved and the baby is typically able to choose an optimal position for birth. Evidence has shown that women under prenatal chiropractic care report easier births, shorter labor times and lower rates of interventions.
Dr. Vito Giacalone
Dr. Vito Giacalone received his Doctorate from New York Chiropractic College in the beautiful Finger Lakes region of NY. He started his post-graduate work at Back to Health Chiropractic in 2014, where he was grateful to practice continuously ever since. 2020 played a banner year in the opportunity for change in the direction of the healthcare industry. During a time when mainstream media was rooting and pushing for science to continue to research for “cures,” Dr. Vito integrated himself into The Wellness Way in Sudbury, MA to bring awareness and education to patients. It is here that he is teaching others that when subjected to the right environment, healing will take place from within. His dream is to dispel the seemingly ubiquitous fear of germs, educate on the importance of fixing the immune system, and empowering others to take control of the environment to which they are subjected.
Prior to receiving his degree and licensure, Dr. Vito obtained a Masters of Music in Saxophone Performance from the New England Conservatory of Music. As such, he brings an additional niche to his chiropractic services, empathizing with the vast and expanding artistic community inherent to Massachusetts. He is passionate for healing, and credits his inspiration for becoming a chiropractor to his fascination with biomechanics, the nervous system, and their synergizing effects with proper diet, exercise, and regular chiropractic care. Dr. Vito’s goal is to fix your biochemistry and get you back on your feet while promoting optimal function of your brain-body connection.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Your insurance card
- The completed and signed Signature Pages from Step 2
- Your lab records from the past two (2) years
Anywhere from 30 minutes to two (2) hours depending on the patient. This allows for a thorough review of your history; a physical examination; and any lab testing deemed necessary. We also allow ample time for you to ask questions.
Yes. Most new patient evaluations involve several doctors and/or nurses.
Some of the charges may be billable to insurance. Chiropractic exams, x-rays, and manipulations (akaadjustments) are billable to insurance but coverage depends on your individual insurance policy. It is yourresponsibility (the patient’s) to contact your insurance company to verify what chiropractic coverage youmay have (in-network or out-of-network). We will submit your chiropractic charges to your insurance company upon your request. You are ultimately responsible for all charges in full, which may include deductible charges, coinsurance, co-pays, and/or patient responsibility portions. For patients with Medicare or Medicaid insurance, we are in-network and do accept and bill Medicaid and Medicare
Functional medicine or nutrition services are not billable to insurance at this time.
Lab work results are very important and will typically assist the doctor in determining the plan of care. If prior lab work has not been completed, our doctors may recommend lab testing at your first appointment. This typically involves blood work or test kits.
Several lab companies offer insurance billing and others are cash only. If insurance billing IS available, the lab company will bill the lab to insurance, but it will be your responsibly to check your insurance coverage. If labs are necessary, additional testing and billing options will be discussed at the time the patient receives the lab.
Most patients with nutritional health concerns will have supplements recommended. Each supplement is chosen for the patient for a specific reason based upon the symptoms described to the doctor, as well as the results of any lab testing. The doctor will get into further details about the supplements ordered for you at your second appointment.
The intent is always for the patient to eventually lessen the number and/or dosage of supplements, but the timeline for this is different for each patient and is based upon the improvement of the patient’s condition over time. Often improvements are seen by 3-6 months and again at 9-12 months, however, results may take longer if patient fails to implement the dietary recommendations.
Due to Quality control, all Supplements are non refundable.
After we receive your test results, we will call you to set up your next appointment. At this appointment, the doctor will go over your test results, your plan of care, and give you an estimate for length of care.
The billing department will meet with you to discuss financial aspects and discounted plans. Plans range from $900 to $2,500. Follow up appointments will be scheduled. These may include, but are not limited to, follow ups with the doctor, chiropractic adjustments, and dietary consultations.
Based on your signs and symptoms, X-rays may need to be completed as well as orthopedic testing. After the first few appointments, you will receive a doctor’s report. The doctor’s report will include information about your x-rays and a recommended plan of care. Adjustments will begin within the first few appointments. At this point, if you would like, you can speak with a member of our billing department about chiropractic care plans.
